Although not officially in Morris County, Alta Vista is in neighboring Wabaunsee County. Prairie Heights Elementary School in Alta Vista is in Morris County USD 417.  Alta Vista is a community with a wonderful Agriculture Heritage, which is showcased at the Ag Heritage Museum. In 1887, the Chicago, Kansas and Nebraska Railway built a main line from Topeka through Alta Vista to Herington.
