About the event

Council Grove Public Library is excited to host award-winning author Mindy McGinnis on December 4, 2023, at 7:00pm.  This event will be at the Library, 829 W. Main St., and is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Library and Flint Hills Books.

Mindy is the author of multiple Young Adult novels that span many genres. From Historical to fantasy, contemporary to gothic thriller, one can always count on Mindy’s books to deliver grit, truth, and an unflinching look at humanity and the world around us.

A ninth-generation farmer, Mindy attributes much of her character to growing up on an Ohio farm, learning the value of physical labor.  Much of her writing reflects small-town living and aspects of rural poverty. A former school librarian, Mindy still lives and works in her hometown.

Join us as Mindy discusses her novel HEROINE, an in-depth look at the opioid crisis in the heartland that follows the downward spiral of a promising teen from college-bound athlete to addict.  Mindy will discuss her research behind the novel, and we will learn more about the opioid crisis and myths about addiction. Mindy will also have copies of her books available for purchase and signing.

The event is free of charge, but we ask you to pick up a ticket (to gauge space needed) at the CG Library or Flint Hills Books.  Your ticket will enter you into a drawing for a signed by the author copy of HEROINE. Refreshments will be available for all during the discussion.
