Special Opening Event - Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store State Historic Site

The Kansas Historical Society is thrilled to announce that Kaw Mission and Last Chance Store State Historic Site is reopening on September 16. 

We invite you to join us for a special opening event to celebrate the completion of this multi-year renovation project. Activities will begin at 1:30 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Kaw Mission, 500 N Mission St., Council Grove. 

Throughout the afternoon, visitors can explore Kaw Mission’s new displays, interactive elements, and short informational films and ride a trolley to the Last Chance Store courtesy of the Council Grove Area Trade & Tourism Association.
