Candlelight Charm!

Saturday, November 12, 6pm

Council Grove, it is almost time for our signature holiday event, Candlelight Charm!

Can I be honest with you? When I spent my first months in Council Grove last year and heard the hubbub about Candlelight Charm, my exact thoughts were . . . “How great can this really be?”

The answer . . . “Absolutely, fantastic!” Our business community blew me away. Our family walked around the streets of Council Grove in absolute awe. Like, stars-in-our-eyes-level-awe!

The businesses’ halls were decked, the streets were actually jingling, and, I swear, it snowed. I don’t think it really did, but at that point, I was holiday-hallucinating.

This year is gearing up to be just as fan-freaking-tastic!

We’ll be sending out an email later this week with our traditional pre-event round-up of special events and plans by as many of the businesses as we can wrangle. If you want to be sure to receive that email, reach out to : information@councilgrove.com to be added to our mailing list.

Our Trolley will be running up and down East and West Main Street. Carriage Rides will be available — catch them in front of the Holmes Insurance Building. Our streets will be lit. Our shops and restaurants will have tons of specials and giveaways. It’s the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit!

There are some other interesting happenings that day as well.

The Morris County Health Fair will be at Council Grove High School. This FREE event runs from 9:00am-noon and will offer Bone Density Screenings, Skin Checks, Blood Pressure Checks, Balance Screenings, Flu Shots, and much, much more! Thanks to Morris County Hospital and our local participating businesses for bringing this healthy-focused opportunity to Council Grove. All are welcome!

Additionally, Veterans Day is Friday, November 11. While there are a number of ways to honor our Morris County Veterans, I want to remind you about a couple of important options.

Traildays Cafe and Museum is hosting its Veterans Lunch before Candlelight Charm on Saturday, November 12th, at noon. Beef and Noodles, Apple Pie, and special guest David Euler. Mr. Euler is a Vietnam Veteran and Agent Orange survivor. Proceeds from this event will go toward the purchase of a Steinway Piano for the Arts and History Center’s new performing arts theater.

Last but certainly not least, I encourage you to honor our local veterans by donating your time or funds to Together with Veterans & Morris County. This is an important group, and they are doing good work in our community to prevent suicides, not only among our veteran population but our county population as a whole. You can learn more about their mission and efforts at : https://www.mirecc.va.gov/visn19/togetherwithveterans/communities/ or on Facebook at : https://www.facebook.com/groups/300309772157980

Meaningful events are happening in Council Grove this weekend, and I can’t wait to share this amazing weekend with all of you!
