It’s Almost April!

Can you believe we're almost through the first quarter of the year? It feels like just last week we were sipping champagne and ringing in the New Year at The Dealership Building!

Saturday is April 1st, and your Council Grove Area Trade & Tourism Association is welcoming April showers, flowers, and all it brings to Council Grove, Kansas. We’re bringing a few things too, and I am so excited to share them with you today.

First, our Monthly Member Networking Lunch is Friday, April 7th, at noon at The Kanvas. Members, this is your time to talk with your fellow business community about everything happening in your business / organization, our community, and beyond. Please bring business cards and any new printed material for 2023 that you would like us to display in our office. All attendees will be entered into a drawing for one of our new, highly-coveted “We Keep Our Stumps Covered” tees!

Lunch is being served by Messy Bessie’s Bakery, for a $10 suggested donation. Please call our office to RSVP : 620.767.5413 by April 6th.

Next up, #SecondSaturdaysCG! Come downtown on Saturday, April 8th, for our April Stroll & Roll. Our businesses have so much planned for you, and we’re going to have our Trolley rolling through town from 10:00am-8:00pm, ready to give you a FREE lift to any of our Council Grove area businesses. Grove Gardens, The Dealership, Hays House, and more have a variety of activities already planned, and we’re hearing from more businesses every day!

Then, we’ve got EARTH DAY 2023! Saturday, April 22nd, from 8:00am - 10:00am, we’re organizing a CLEAN UP Council Grove Day! This is a team-oriented event, so grab your friends and colleagues, come up with a clever team name, and get ready to pick up as much trash around Council Grove as you can. Bring it to the Morris County Recycling Center and Transfer Station to have your trash weighed and properly disposed of. The 3 teams that collect the most trash will win BIG!

We’ll discuss the plan and details at our monthly roundtable discussion on Monday, April 10th at 6:00pm at our office, DESTINATION : Council Grove 116 West Main Street, CG. All are welcome!

If you are planning on gathering a team for this, we encourage you to attend the planning meeting, but it is not required. We’ll be posting prizes, rules, and updates, on our event page on Facebook : CLEAN UP COUNCIL GROVE! A Team-Oriented Earth Day Event.

Then, our third BUY-A-BREW with special guest, Amy Honer, executive director of the Council Grove Area Foundation. This is your chance to learn more about our Area Foundation, its funds, its work, and how YOU can get involved.

Light appetizers are on the Council Grove Area Trade & Tourism Association; the brews are on you!

That’s a lot, right? All the while, we’re in high-gear planning for our 2023 tourism season. Just this month, we ran an ad for Council Grove in Rider Magazine. This a first in a long line of marketing investments geared towards attracting certain segments of the population that we know would just love a visit to the Flint Hills and Council Grove.

Also, we’ll be hard at work re-tooling CouncilGrove.com, putting together our 2023 Council Grove Guide, and continuing to roll out our much-anticipated collaborative billboard marketing program.

Wow, when you put it all into one newspaper article, you really can see how busy our office is!

One last HEADS UP : Washunga Days tickets are still available at the introductory pricing. Be sure to stop into DESTINATION : Council Grove or go online to WashungaDays.com and grab your wristbands for just $20 a pop. On Saturday, April 1st, those babies go to $25 each. No foolin’!
